Pupil Distance Disaster & Customer Service Nightmare: My GlassesUSA Warning! 😤
Let me share my absolutely terrible online shopping experience as a cautionary tale for anyone considering ordering glasses online. I recently ordered a pair of glasses for my 12-year-old from GlassesUSA, drawn in by their virtual try-on. However, he immediately had trouble seeing with them. Upon visiting the doctor, we discovered the pupil distance (PD) was incorrect. The frustrating part is, the GlassesUSA site does not prompt you to provide the PD number, and if you don’t know to provide it, they just assume a value, which was wrong for my son.
Compounding this issue, I found it impossible to reach a human at GlassesUSA for a real phone conversation. Email interactions were incredibly slow, dragging out the whole process. I felt compelled to leave a review and engage with customer service because this was not just an inconvenience; it affected my child's vision, and the lack of support was infuriating.
Customer: I am so frustrated! My son's new glasses, which we just received, have the wrong pupil distance. He can't see properly with them. CS Rep: I sincerely apologize for the vision issues your son is experiencing and the inconvenience this has caused. We want to ensure his glasses are perfectly suited for him. Customer: But why wasn't I prompted to provide the PD on your website? You just assumed a value! And trying to get help has been a nightmare; no one answers the phone, and emails take days for a response. CS Rep: I understand your frustration with the PD input and our communication channels. We are continuously working to improve our website's user experience and customer service responsiveness. We can certainly help correct the lenses for you. Customer: So, how does this exchange work? Am I supposed to send these back first and leave my son without glasses while we wait for new ones? That's unacceptable. CS Rep: To process the correction, we do require the original glasses to be returned before we can dispatch the replacement. I understand this can be inconvenient, but it helps us ensure accuracy. We will expedite the new order as quickly as possible once the return is initiated.
The reason I left this review on the website is to hopefully prevent others from falling into the same trap.
